Dr. A. Sharada
PRINCIPAL
Dr. A. Sharada has spent twenty-four years in teaching, research, and academic administration. She holds a Ph.D. in Automatic Speech Recognition and Natural Language Processing.
Early in her research career, she took up a problem few were working on — teaching machines to understand Telugu. She finalized the Telugu phone set and phoneme chart, and released it under an open Creative Commons licence, so that any researcher, anywhere, could build on it without permission or payment.
Her work since includes 21 patents, 47 research papers, and three textbooks now taught across several universities. She has written academic content for Stanford University’s Gradiance portal and presented her research at an international conference in Malaysia. She is a recognised Ph.D. supervisor for JNTUH, KLU, and Annamacharya University, with multiple scholars currently under her guidance. She is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), and has received the Best Teacher, Master Teacher, Jyestha Acharya, and IES Innovations awards.
She was previously Professor and Head of Computer Science & Engineering at G. Narayanamma Institute of Technology & Science for Women, Hyderabad.
Her current research is on quatum NLP, generative AI, voice assistants for the elderly and for patients, on mental health analysis, and on assistive technologies — technology built for the people it usually overlooks.
